A Robust Design Method for Optimal Engine Operating Zone Design of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Bus

Yujie Liu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a robust and optimal design method for the engine operating zone, which combines nonlinear model predictive control-based energy management and Taguchi robust design model. By considering the noises of driving cycles and stochastic vehicle mass, the method improves the robustness and optimizes the engine operating zone. The simulation results demonstrate significant fuel economy improvement compared to both the experienced designed engine operating zone and the rule-based energy management strategy.
