Multi-objective optimization and exergoeconomic analysis of a multi-generation system based on biogas-steam reforming

Jinghan He et al.

Summary: In this study, a new design of a multi-generation integrated energy system powered by biogas energy is proposed, assessed, and optimized. Energy, exergy, exergo-economic, and economic investigations are conducted to evaluate the system's performance. The designed system is capable of generating 108.7 kW of power, 888.7 kW of cooling load, and 703.3 kg/h of hydrogen. The energy and exergy efficiencies of the system are determined to be around 31.51% and 31.14%, respectively. Comprehensive parametric evaluation and optimization are performed to assess the influence of key variables on the system's operation, leading to the establishment of two different optimization styles. The optimization results show that a TCOP of 16.23 S/GJ and a net power of 158.21 kW can be achieved in the multiobjective optimization mode.

A neural network-based adaptive power-sharing strategy for hybrid frame inverters in a microgrid

Wenyang Deng et al.

Summary: A new microgrid (MG) framework with hybrid parallel-connected inductive-coupling inverters (ICI) and capacitive-coupling inverters (CCI) was proposed in this paper, which is more cost-effective in reactive power conditioning and enhanced reactive power regulation ability compared with ICI. An adaptive power sharing method was proposed to reduce total rated power and losses by lowering the DC-link voltage for CCI. A power-sharing control layer based on back-propagation neural network was investigated for rapid and accurate sharing ratio computation. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through simulations and experiments.

Intraday markets, wind integration and uplift payments in a regional US power system

Cody Hohl et al.

Summary: U.S. electricity markets, consisting of day-ahead and real-time markets, face challenges in integrating wind power due to uncertain wind production forecasts and potential rescheduling costs. This study examines the effectiveness of a multi-settlement structure with four intraday stages in reducing uplift payments and system costs compared to a two-settlement structure. Through the use of unit commitment and dispatch models, as well as historical and synthetic wind forecasts, the study analyzes the impact of wind uncertainty and market structures on performance. The results suggest that the proposed multi-settlement market design is more likely to result in higher uplift payments regardless of wind penetration levels.

Summary: To solve the problem of low power generation in currently developed RC-TEG devices, this paper demonstrated a promising C-RC-TEG device based on high radiation and thermal concentration. The experimental prototype utilized solar energy and radiative cooling to generate a temperature difference for driving TEG electricity generation. Results showed that solar irradiance and radiative cooling area had a positive effect on the C-RC-TEG model. Additionally, wind speed was found to decrease power generation. Concentrator in the light focusing area achieved a maximum power generation of 47 mW and a temperature difference of 7 K.
