Uncovering the role of urinary microbiota in urological tumors: a systematic review of literature

Aya Karam et al.

Summary: This systematic review explores the role of urinary microbiota in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of urological tumors. The study found that alterations in urinary microbiota were associated with recurrence, disease stage, and disease grade of urological cancers. Dietary, environmental, and geographic factors also influenced the composition of urinary microbiota.

Identifying Two Novel Clusters in Calcium Oxalate Stones With Urinary Tract Infection Using 16S rDNA Sequencing

Chen Shen et al.

Summary: This study identified two novel clusters in patients with calcium oxalate stones, associated with the white blood cell level in urine, and suggested a correlation with specific microbiota. The microbiota Firmicutes and Enterobacteriaceae were key in distinguishing two clusters within the calcium oxalate stones group. The presence of certain bacteria in each cluster was found to be positively correlated with infection or antibiotics-related pathways, indicating potential causative factors in subtypes of calcium oxalate stone disease.
