Induction of autophagy via the ROS-dependent AMPK-mTOR pathway protects copper-induced spermatogenesis disorder

Hongrui Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of autophagy in copper-induced spermatogenesis disorder. Copper can induce autophagy via the AMPK-mTOR pathway and oxidative stress. Inhibition of autophagy increases cell damage and spermatogenesis disorder, while co-treatment with an apoptosis inhibitor can alleviate the disorder. Autophagy may also aggravate copper toxicity by promoting ferroptosis.

Anti-Apoptosis and Autophagy Effects of Melatonin Protect Rat Chondrocytes against Oxidative Stress via Regulation of AMPK/Foxo3 Pathways

Summary: The study found that melatonin can suppress H2O2-induced matrix degradation and apoptosis, maintain mitochondrial redox homeostasis, and activate autophagy through the AMPK/Foxo3 signaling pathways, protecting chondrocytes.
