Exploring fruits from genus Prunus as a source of potential pharmaceutical agents-In vitro and in silico study

Boris M. Popovic et al.

Summary: Prunus fruits are rich in polyphenols with health benefits. Among traditional Prunus fruits grown in Serbia, steppe cherry and blackthorn were found to have the highest bioactive potential. Rutinoside derivatives of cyanidin and quercetin were identified as the most potent inhibitors of alpha-Gls, alpha-Amy, and hDPP III enzymes.

Assessment of inhibitory properties of flavonoid-rich fig (Ficus carica L.) peel extracts against tyrosinase, α-glucosidase, urease and cholinesterases enzymes, and relationship with antioxidant activity

Leila Meziant et al.

Summary: The flavonoid-rich extracts from the peel of Ficus carica fruits showed significant inhibitory effects on tyrosinase and alpha-glucosidase, along with strong antioxidant activity, making them suitable for use in anti-hyperglycemic and skin-whitening pharmaceutical formulations.

In vitro and in vivo inhibitory effect of anthocyanin-rich bilberry extract on α-glucosidase and α-amylase

Yanglin Ji et al.

Summary: The study found that bilberry extract had inhibitory activity against alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase, acting as a mixed-type inhibitor and changing the enzyme structure and stability. In vivo study also showed a hypoglycaemic effect of bilberry extract. Molecular docking assay indicated that bilberry extract could be a potential glycosidase inhibitor.
