Spatial organization of transcribed eukaryotic genes

Susanne Leidescher et al.

Summary: Despite limited understanding of the spatial organization of the genome, this study demonstrates that highly expressed long genes form open-ended transcription loops with RNA polymerases moving along them. The extension and shape of these loops suggest intrinsic stiffness and could represent a general mechanism underlying eukaryotic transcription.

Transplantable human thyroid organoids generated from embryonic stem cells to rescue hypothyroidism

Mirian Romitti et al.

Summary: The study reports the generation of transplantable thyroid organoids derived from human embryonic stem cells, which can restore thyroid hormone levels in athyreotic mice. Thyroid hormones are essential for the normal functioning and growth of tissues, and hypothyroidism is a common disorder that is difficult to treat effectively. This research provides proof of concept for future therapeutic development.

Keeping chromatin in the loop(s)

Leonid A. Mirny et al.

Summary: The paper discusses three types of chromatin loops and their distinct features and functions, highlighting the role of chromatin looping in genome organization and gene expression. The diversity in structure, maintenance, and function among different types of chromatin loops is emphasized.
