oprL Gene Sequencing, Resistance Patterns, Virulence Genes, Quorum Sensing and Antibiotic Resistance Genes of XDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Broiler Chickens

Abdelazeem M. Algammal et al.

Summary: This study investigated the occurrence, oprL sequencing, antimicrobial resistance patterns, virulence-determinant, Quorum sensing, and antibiotic resistance genes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from broiler chickens. The overall prevalence of P. aeruginosa in the examined birds was 28.3%. The recovered P. aeruginosa strains possessed various virulence-related genes, Quorum sensing genes, and resistance genes.

Coexistence of blaNDM-5 and tet(X4) in international high-risk Escherichia coli clone ST648 of human origin in China

Muhammad Shafiq et al.

Summary: This study reports the first incident of a bla(NDM-5) and tet(X4) co-harboring Escherichia coli with resistance to carbapenem and tigecycline recovered as the causative agent of a urinary tract infection in a 94-year-old patient. The strain ECCL209 carries multiple resistance genes and exhibits resistance to almost all clinically used antibiotics. MLST analysis found that the strain belongs to the worldwide high-risk pandemic clone ST648, and multiple plasmid incompatibility types were detected.

PGRNIG: novel parallel gene regulatory network identification algorithm based on GPU

Bin Yang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel parallel swarm intelligent algorithm, PGRNIG, to optimize the parameters of the S-system for gene regulatory network (GRN) inference. Experimental results show that PGRNIG can accurately infer the gene regulatory network with a significant computational speed-up.

A First Report of Molecular Typing, Virulence Traits, and Phenotypic and Genotypic Resistance Patterns of Newly Emerging XDR and MDR Aeromonas veronii in Mugil seheli

Abdelazeem M. Algammal et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence, antibiogram profiles, sequence analysis, virulence and antimicrobial resistance genes, and pathogenicity of A. veronii recovered from Mugil seheli. The prevalence of A. veronii in the examined fish was 22.5%, and the strains shared high genetic similarity with those from other countries. The isolates were found to harbor various virulence and resistance genes, presenting a risk to public health.

The Role of a Dipeptide Transporter in the Virulence of Human Pathogen, Helicobacter pylori

Xiaohong Xu et al.

Summary: The Dpp transporter in H. pylori plays a crucial role in bacterial growth and influences the expression of virulence factors and inflammation. Mutants with DppA mutation express more outer membrane proteins and show higher adhesion to gastric epithelial cells.

The transcriptional activator of the bfp operon in EPEC (PerA) interacts with the RNA polymerase alpha subunit

Cristina Lara-Ochoa et al.

Summary: Enteropathogenic E. coli virulence genes are regulated by PerA, which directly promotes its own expression, activates bfp operon and PerC expression. Interaction between PerA and RNAP alpha subunit is necessary for bfpA expression, showing potential for future experiments.

Virulence Factors of Enteric Pathogenic Escherichia coli: A Review

Babak Pakbin et al.

Summary: Escherichia coli are versatile microorganisms found in the normal intestinal microbiota of humans and animals. They can become emerging human pathogens by acquiring genes encoding virulence factors. Nine enteric E. coli pathotypes have been characterized, utilizing various virulence factors to cause intestinal and extraintestinal diseases.
