(Arylimido)niobium(V)-Alkylidenes as the Catalysts for Ring- Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) of Cyclic Olefins: Z-Specific ROMP of Cyclooctene by Nb(CHSiMe3)(NC6H5)[OC(CF3)3](PMe3)2

Kanchana Chatchaipaiboon et al.

Summary: New niobium(V)-alkylidene complexes were prepared and found to exhibit superior catalytic activities for ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) reactions. One of the complexes also showed Z-specific ROMP activity for cis-cyclooctene at high temperature.

Kanchana Chatchaipaiboon et al.

Summary: The effects of arylimido ligands on the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) were investigated, showing that complex 3 exhibited the highest activity for the ROMP of TCD, while complex 1 showed the highest activity for the ROMP of NBD.

Vanadium(V) Arylimido Alkylidene N-Heterocyclic Carbene Alkyl and Perhalophenoxy Alkylidenes for the Cis, Syndiospecific Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerization of Norbornene

Yuta Kawamoto et al.

Summary: Vanadium(V) arylimido alkylidene N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) alkyl complexes and perhalophenoxy substituted alkylidenes have been prepared and shown to exhibit high catalytic activities in the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene. The perhalophenoxy derivatives demonstrated superior activities with turnover frequencies up to 208 s^(-1) and cis-syndiotactic stereoregularity up to 98% in the resulting polymers.

Olefin Metathesis by First-Row Transition Metals

Dmitry S. Belov et al.

Summary: Catalytic olefin metathesis using first-row transition metals, such as scandium to nickel, offers the potential for producing fine and commodity chemicals in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. The unique electronic structure of these base metals allows for unusual reactivity, although the active species involved in olefin metathesis are still not fully understood.
