Transcriptome and metabolome response of eggplant against Ralstonia solanacearum infection

Xi Ou Xiao et al.

Summary: The response of eggplant to bacterial wilt was studied by analyzing the whole-root transcriptomes and metabolomes. A total of 2,896 differentially expressed genes and 63 differences in metabolites were identified after inoculation with Ralstonia solanacearum. The results showed that phytohormones played a key role in eggplant response to bacterial wilt.

The Sm gene conferring resistance to gray leaf spot disease encodes an NBS-LRR (nucleotide-binding site-leucine-rich repeat) plant resistance protein in tomato

Huanhuan Yang et al.

Summary: Tomato is a widely consumed and cultivated crop, and gray leaf spot disease caused by Stemphylium lycopersici is one of the most devastating diseases in tomato production. Researchers successfully cloned the Sm gene, which confers high resistance against gray leaf spot disease, using a map-based cloning strategy. They also identified other resistance genes related to the Sm gene. The cloning of Sm gene is an important step towards breeding resistant tomato varieties.

Identification and Characterization of NBS Resistance Genes in Akebia trifoliata

Xiaojiao Yu et al.

Summary: Akebia trifoliata, an important multiuse perennial plant, lacks research on its resistance genes, hindering the breeding of resistant varieties. Genes encoding proteins with NBS and LRR motifs are crucial for plant disease resistance, and a comprehensive genome-wide analysis identified 73 NBS genes in the A. trifoliata genome.
