Evaluation of an electrostatic spray charge system implemented in three conventional orchard sprayers used on a commercial apple trees plantation

Summary: Electrostatic sprayers can potentially improve treatment effectiveness and reduce pesticide consumption, but further verification is needed, especially in orchards. Comparisons were made between three different electrostatic sprayer designs for pesticide application on apple trees. No significant differences were found between the conventional and electrostatic spray methods of the same sprayer, but differences were observed in coverage between the vertical boom and pneumatic sprayer. The design of the sprayer seems to have a greater impact on spray deposition qualities than the electrostatic charging system.

Canopy Segmentation Method for Determining the Spray Deposition Rate in Orchards

Summary: This study developed a method to evaluate the efficacy of different spraying techniques in orchards, and measured the spray deposition rate and droplet distribution in a pear orchard and a peach orchard. The results showed that the trailer sprayer had the highest deposition rates, while the spray gun had the best droplet distribution uniformity.
