Behavioral and physiological difference of small-tailed Han sheep at different estrus stage after delivery

Fukuan Li et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the behavior and physiological hormone changes of small-tailed Han sheep at different postpartum stages. Ten ewes were selected, and based on their postpartum intervals, they were divided into two groups. The behaviors were observed using the Observer XT system, and hormone levels were measured in fecal samples. The results showed differences in behavior and hormone levels between the two groups, providing insights for the management of postpartum re-estrus and breeding of small-tailed Han sheep.

Behavioural reactions of rabbits during AAI sessions

Michaela Souckova et al.

Summary: The use of rabbits for therapy is increasing in popularity, but there have been few studies on their welfare during these sessions. Recent research has shown that small movements of the eyes, ears, nostrils, or jaw can indicate the emotional state of animals. This pilot study aimed to assess the emotional state of rabbits during animal assisted interventions (AAI) in different situations. The results suggest that rabbits experience negative emotions when placed on a child's lap during AAI sessions, highlighting the need for further research on their emotional well-being.

Eastern Spotted Skunks Alter Nightly Activity and Movement in Response to Environmental Conditions

Kassandra J. Arts et al.

Summary: Daily and seasonal fluctuations in environmental conditions can have significant impacts on animals' survivorship and reproductive success. Animals often respond to these changes behaviorally by regulating their activity and movement patterns. In this study, we found that eastern spotted skunks rely on behavioral thermoregulation and are strictly nocturnal to reduce predation risk. They increase their activity and movement when the ambient temperature is higher and there is more rainfall. Moon illumination, however, does not affect their nightly activity or movement. These findings indicate that eastern spotted skunks primarily rely on behavioral flexibility to adapt to changing environmental conditions rather than physiological adaptation.

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) suppresses follicle development marker expression and enhances cytokine expressions, which results in fail to granulosa cell proliferation in developing follicle in cows

Naoki Yamamoto et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of endometrial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on granulosa cell functions during early follicular development in cows. The results showed that clinical endometritis (CE) led to ovarian dysfunction in cows, causing inflammatory response and abnormal cytokine expression in granulosa cells, as well as inhibition of cell proliferation and apoptosis.

The Role of Bone Morphogenetic Protein 4 in Ovarian Function and Diseases

Dongyong Yang et al.

Summary: BMP4 is a key protein involved in ovarian development and diseases, and its dysregulation may play a role in follicular development, polycystic ovary syndrome, and ovarian cancer. Further research is needed to clarify the specific mechanisms in which BMP4 is involved in these conditions.

Effect of different estrus synchronization protocols on estrus and pregnancy rates, oxidative stress and some biochemical parameters in Hair goats

Funda Eski et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of different estrus synchronization protocols on fertility and serum biochemical parameters in Hair goats. The results showed that short-term intravaginal P4 treatment combined with GnRH and PGF2α could increase estrus and pregnancy rates, improve the antioxidant defense system, and affect levels of TAS, TOS, E2, P4, TSH, and OSI in Hair goats.
