Dendrobium nobile Lindley Administration Attenuates Atopic Dermatitis-like Lesions by Modulating Immune Cells

Sooyeon Hong et al.

Summary: This study confirmed the inhibitory effect of Dendrobium nobile Lindley (DNL) on atopic dermatitis (AD) in mice. The results showed that DNL decreased the levels of IgE, IL-6, and IL-4, as well as scratching behavior and the thickness of the skin. It also inhibited the expression of cytokines and signaling pathways, improving AD symptoms.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Extracellular Vesicles Derived from Canine Adipose Tissue Ameliorates Inflammation, Skin Barrier Function and Pruritus by Reducing JAK/STAT Signaling in Atopic Dermatitis

Sung Youl Kim et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the immunomodulatory effect of mesenchymal stem cells derived from canine adipose tissue (cASCs) and cASCs-derived extracellular vesicles (cASC-EVs) on canine atopic dermatitis (AD). The results showed that both cASCs and cASC-EVs improved AD-like dermatitis, reduced levels of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, promoted skin barrier repair, and reduced pruritus. These findings suggest the potential of cASCs or cASC-EVs for the treatment of chronic inflammation and damaged skin barrier in AD or canine AD.

miR-21 differentially regulates IL-1β and IL-10 expression in human decidual cells infected with streptococcus B

Violeta Castro-Leyva et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of miR-21 in the expression of IL-1 beta and IL-10 in human decidual stromal cells (DSCs) infected with group B streptococcus (GBS). The results showed that GBS infection increased the mRNA levels of IL-1 beta and IL-10 in DSCs and resulted in the secretion of IL-10. miR-21 expression was significantly higher in infected DSCs compared to non-infected cells. Functional analysis revealed that inhibition of miR-21 increased IL-1 beta secretion but decreased IL-10 secretion in GBS-infected DSCs.

Summary: AS/ASCs and HD/ASCs exert similar immunomodulatory effects. Directly acting on CD4(+) T cells, ASCs can reduce the T-bet/GATA3 and RORc/FoxP3 ratios, decrease Treg formation, but increase IFN gamma and IL-17AF production.

Let-7b-5p in vesicles secreted by human airway cells reduces biofilm formation and increases antibiotic sensitivity of P. aeruginosa

Katja Koeppen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that microRNAs in extracellular vesicles secreted by human airway epithelial cells can regulate protein expression, antibiotic sensitivity, and biofilm formation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This bidirectional interdomain communication provides direct evidence for transfer of miRNAs in EVs from eukaryotic cells to prokaryotes, resulting in phenotypic alterations in the prokaryote. The findings suggest potential clinical applications for using let-7b-5p and a beta-lactam antibiotic in nanoparticles or EVs to benefit patients with antibiotic-resistant P. aeruginosa infections.
