MicroRNA mediated regulation of the onset of enteroblast differentiation in the Drosophila adult intestine

Sromana Mukherjee et al.

Summary: MicroRNA miR-956 controls the commitment to the terminally differentiated enterocyte cell fate in the Drosophila intestine, specifically regulating Notch signaling activity in intermediate enteroblast progenitor cells. MiR-956 targets insensitive mRNA to regulate EB/EC ratios by repressing Notch activity in EBs. Overall, our study highlights a post-transcriptional gene-regulatory mechanism for controlling differentiation in an adult intestinal stem cell lineage.

miRNAsofAedesaegypti (Linnaeus 1762) conserved in six orders of the class Insecta

Iram Pablo Rodriguez-Sanchez et al.

Summary: The study identified miRNAs of Ae.aegypti females, males and eggs, showing differential expression in different growth stages. The functions of these miRNAs mainly involve regulation of embryonic development, metamorphosis, and basic functions. The findings provide insights for the development of new control strategies.
