Forecast of Electric Vehicle Sales in the World and China Based on PCA-GRNN

Minfeng Wu et al.

Summary: The electric vehicle market is rapidly growing due to its ability to reduce environmental pollution and dependency on fossil fuels. However, this growth poses challenges for the current traffic system. This study proposes a model to predict the sales volume and increase rate of electric vehicles worldwide and in China. The results suggest that while sales will continue to grow, the increase rate is slowing down. China has a higher sales growth rate than the global average, indicating a need for significant accessory facilities.

Impact of mass-scale deployment of electric vehicles and benefits of smart charging across all European countries

Andrea Mangipinto et al.

Summary: The integration of electric vehicles into the power system is important for the European energy transition. Differences in mobility and charging patterns exist across European countries due to weather and socio-economic factors. Uncontrolled deployment of electric vehicles would significantly increase peak demand, but smart charging strategies can limit this increase. Technological and infrastructure developments do not provide substantial benefits.

SimSES: A holistic simulation framework for modeling and analyzing stationary energy storage systems

Marc Moeller et al.

Summary: The increasing integration of intermittent renewable energy sources into electricity grids presents technical challenges. Stationary energy storage systems offer an cost-effective and efficient solution for accommodating renewable energy sources. However, challenges related to lifetime, efficiency, and returns need to be addressed before investing in energy storage systems. SimSES, a holistic simulation framework specialized in evaluating energy storage technologies technically and economically, is introduced as a tool to address these challenges. The framework covers various system components and storage technologies, and offers in-depth knowledge and analysis for expert users. Two use cases demonstrated the capabilities of SimSES in peak shaving and frequency containment reserve applications, showing the benefits of hybrid energy storage systems and cascaded converter approaches, respectively.
