Hydrogen-diesel dual-fuel direct-injection (H2DDI) combustion under compression-ignition engine conditions

Patrick Rorimpandey et al.

Summary: This study investigates the ignition and combustion characteristics of diesel pilot and hydrogen jets under simulated compression-ignition engine conditions. The results show that the injection sequence and timing between injections significantly affect the combustion process. Igniting the hydrogen jet before the diesel pilot leads to better combustion performance, while delaying the ignition of the hydrogen jet reduces its combustion efficiency.

Investigation of hydrogen addition on the combustion, performance, and emission characteristics of a heavy-duty engine fueled with diesel/natural gas

Jianbin Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics model of a diesel engine cylinder was developed and a chemical reaction mechanism containing 53 species and 325 reactions was established. The effects of hydrogen addition on the performance, combustion, and emission characteristics of a dual-fuel engine were investigated. The results showed that hydrogen addition improved the engine performance, but slightly increased NOx emissions.

Investigation on the effects of non-uniform porosity catalyst on SCR characteristic based on the field synergy analysis

Zhiqing Zhang et al.

Summary: A three-dimensional mathematical model was developed to study the flow and heat transfer in the non-uniform selective catalytic reduction catalyst system, predicting NOx conversion efficiency. The results showed that the non-uniform porosity catalyst structure effectively reduced catalyst back pressure, while maintaining lower heat transfer rates to improve denitrification efficiency. The field synergy number of non-uniform porosity catalysts was lower compared to uniform porosity catalysts, indicating a more favorable energy transfer for denitrification reactions.

Combination of Pilot Injection and a NH3-SCR System To Reduce NOx Emissions of a Nonroad Compression Ignition Engine

Tansu Shang et al.

Summary: This study found that under low load conditions, changes in the pilot-main injection interval and pilot-injection fuel amount are more likely to lead to variations in NOx emissions. The pilot-injection fuel amount plays a more significant role in NOx emission compared to the pilot-main injection interval. Additionally, using a smaller pilot-injection amount can achieve lower NOx emissions.
