Modelling and analysis of unsafe acts in coal mine gas explosion accidents based on network theory

Wang Yuxin et al.

Summary: Accident prevention in Chinese coal mines is crucial for ensuring coal production safety. Through accident analysis, it has been found that unsafe acts by coal miners are the main cause of catastrophic accidents and neglecting the interrelationships between behaviors can lead to missing hidden chains of incidents and underestimating behavioral risk. This study aims to analyze the interrelationships and behavior patterns among unsafe acts in coal mine gas explosion accidents using network modeling and propose a modeling method for the mine accident unsafe acts network (MAUAN). The research provides valuable insights for accident causation modeling, identification of key causal factors, and decision making in coal mine accident prevention to reduce future accidents.

Risk Assessment of Unsafe Acts in Coal Mine Gas Explosion Accidents Based on HFACS-GE and Bayesian Networks

Lixia Niu et al.

Summary: Even with smart mines, unsafe human acts remain a significant cause of coal mine gas explosion accidents, but there is a lack of models to analyze these acts. This study addresses this issue by using a risk assessment method based on HFACS-GE and BN. Through analyzing 100 coal mine gas explosion cases, key risk factors and preventive measures were identified. The study provides technical assistance for managing unsafe acts in coal mine gas explosions.

Application of ALARP cost-benefit analysis to hospital-based radiation protection

C. J. Kotre

Summary: This article discusses the reasonable and unreasonable boundaries of radiation protection for staff and the general public in the field of hospital-based diagnostic radiology, according to the UK Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017. Cost-benefit analysis is used to establish a direct link between the cost of radiation protection intervention and the reduction in radiation exposure. The results show that the ALARP cost limits for protecting radiation workers in the hospital environment are relatively low, while the investment limit for public dose reduction by reducing patient doses can be very high.

Reform and development of coal mine safety in China: An analysis from government supervision, technical equipment, and miner education

Yuxin Wang et al.

Summary: This paper systematically analyzes the reform measures and experience effects of the Chinese government in coal mine safety governance. It finds that policies such as shutting down small coal mines and integrating resources have strengthened the government's safety management of small coal mines. The establishment of the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety has solved the supervision conflict, and coal mine mechanization and improvement of miners' education level have significant effects on enhancing safety.

Summary: The paper discusses the riskiness of investments in civil works and introduces a risk management model to address the lack of threshold values in the regulatory landscape and literature. By combining ALARP logic and CAPM model, the study defines risk threshold values for more accurate assessment, aiming to make the decision-making process more rational and transparent.
