How the Content of Protons and Vanadium Affects the Activity of H3+nPMo12-nVnO40 (n=0, 1, 2, or 3) Catalysts on the Oxidative Esterification of Benzaldehyde with Hydrogen Peroxide

Marcio Jose da Silva et al.

Summary: This study assessed the activity of various Bronsted acid catalysts in the oxidative esterification reaction of benzaldehyde. It was found that the Vanadium-doped phosphomolybdic acid H5PMo10V2O40 showed the highest activity and selectivity. The doping of Vanadium increased the redox potential of the catalyst and accelerated the reaction step.

Impacts of Sn(II) doping on the Keggin heteropolyacid-catalyzed etherification of glycerol with tert-butyl alcohol

Marcio Jose da Silva et al.

Summary: Phosphomolybdic acid salts were synthesized and evaluated as catalysts for the etherification reactions of glycerol with tert-butyl alcohol, with Sn(II) cations exchanged for their protons. Among the tested Sn(II) heteropoly salts, Sn3PMo12O40 showed the highest activity and selectivity towards glyceryl ethers, attributed to its greater Lewis acidity strength. Economic analysis indicated the viability of the process with a return on investment (ROI) of 30.7% for an annual production capacity of 30,000 metric tons.

Na4PMo11VO40-catalyzed one-pot oxidative esterification of benzaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide

Castelo Bandane Vilanculo et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the activity of sodium salts of vanadium-doped phosphomolybdic acid in the oxidative esterification reaction of benzaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide in alkyl alcohol solutions. The catalyst Na4PMo11VO40 showed the highest activity and selectivity, regardless of the type of alcohol used. The reaction selectivity was influenced by the carbon chain length of the alcohol and steric hindrance on the hydroxyl group.

Transition Metal-Substituted Potassium Silicotungstate Salts as Catalysts for Oxidation of Terpene Alcohols with Hydrogen Peroxide

Marcio Jose da Silva et al.

Summary: The catalytic activity of transition metal-substituted potassium silicotungstate salts on the oxidation reactions of terpene alcohols was investigated in this work. Among the salts studied, K5SiFeW11O39 showed the highest activity and selectivity, attributed to its highest Lewis acidity.

Monoterpenes etherification reactions with alkyl alcohols over cesium partially exchanged Keggin heteropoly salts: effects of catalyst composition

Marcio Jose da Silva et al.

Summary: The study found that phosphotungstate is the most effective Keggin heteropolyacid catalyst, and Cs2.5H0.5PW12O40 salt is the most active and selective catalyst. Investigation on the effects of reaction parameters such as temperature, time, catalyst load, etc. showed that the simultaneous presence of cesium ions and protons plays an important role in the reaction, with an optimal molar ratio of 2.5-0.5. The Cs2.5H0.5PW12O40 salt can be efficiently recovered and reused without losing catalytic activity.
