Deionized Water Electrochemical Machining Hybridized with Alumina Powder Polishing for Microcavity of M-333 Mold Steel

Albert Wen-Jeng Hsue et al.

Summary: This study proposes an electrochemical machining (ECM) process using deionized water (DI-water) and alumina powder for microcavity fabrication, and combines ECM with polishing to achieve better surface profile for deeper cavities. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method in achieving excellent surface roughness and accurate profile with appropriate process parameters.

Reduction of hexavalent chromium using L-ascorbic acid in rotating reactors

S. Karmakar et al.

Summary: This study compared the reduction of hexavalent chromium by L-ascorbic acid in three novel rotating reactors, finding that the rotating spiral reactor achieved the maximum percentage reduction. Experimental results indicated that rotating reactors could significantly reduce the volume of conventional reactors.

Oxide Formation during Transpassive Material Removal of Martensitic 42CrMo4 Steel by Electrochemical Machining

Daniela Zander et al.

Summary: The efficiency of material removal by electrochemical machining is determined by various factors including material composition, chemical surface condition, electrolyte, machining parameters, and current density distribution. The mechanisms of anodic metal dissolution and oxide formation are not fully understood for steels like 42CrMo4. Results from ECM processing of 42CrMo4 in sodium nitrate solution showed the formation of a Fe3-xO4 mixed oxide and changes in the oxidation state of iron, chromium, and molybdenum. Electrically controlled anodic dissolution and oxide formation were found to be key processes during ECM of 42CrMo4.

An Investigation of Ultrasonic-Assisted Electrochemical Machining of Micro-Hole Array

Zhe-Yong Shen et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the use of an ultrasonic vibration-integrated array electrode for micro-hole drilling in 301 stainless steel. Experimental results show that with the optimal parameter combination, such drilling can achieve a minimum average diagonal length and a smaller amount of variation in diagonal length, improving the inlet and outlet taper angle of micro-holes.
