Growth of elongated vapor bubbles during flow boiling heat transfer in wavy microchannels

Odumuyiwa A. Odumosu et al.

Summary: Flow boiling in microchannels utilizes the latent heat of the fluid and can efficiently remove heat. Numerical simulations provide detailed information about the flow and vapor bubble dynamics, which cannot be obtained experimentally. This study focuses on the growth of vapor bubbles in straight and wavy microchannels using numerical simulations. The results show that the wavy structure of the microchannel enhances bubble growth and wall heat transfer due to deformation, expansion, and perturbation of the bubbles. The local Nusselt number in the wavy channel can be up to 2.6 times higher than in the straight channel.

High spatial granularity residential heating load forecast based on Dendrite net model

Lidong Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a data-driven heat load forecast method based on smart meters, which aims to exploit the value of high spatial granularity information in residential communities with high randomness in human behaviors. The proposed method uses a white-box machine learning algorithm called Dendritic Network to analyze and aggregate data from different locations of district heating systems. An online correction mechanism is also proposed to ensure the adaptiveness of the machine learning model under different scenarios. The results show that the dendritic network employed in the proposed method achieves higher forecast accuracy with a root-mean-square error of 0.0029 and a coefficient of determination ranging from 0.99 to 1, demonstrating its wide scope of application in the area of heat load forecast.

A novel dynamic opposite learning enhanced Jaya optimization method for high efficiency plate-fin heat exchanger design optimization

Lidong Zhang et al.

Summary: A plate-fin heat exchanger (PFHE) is a compact and efficient thermal device, but its performance relies on its structural design. Optimizing the design of a PFHE is a challenging problem due to its nonlinearity, which can be solved using meta-heuristic algorithms. This paper proposes an improved method called dynamic-opposite learning Jaya (DOLJaya), which demonstrates competitive robustness, efficiency, and effectiveness in solving complex nonlinear problems.

Production of Biohydrogen from Microalgae Biomass after Wastewater Treatment and Air Purification from CO2

Ksenia Velmozhina et al.

Summary: This article explores the feasibility of producing biohydrogen from microalgae after being used in wastewater purification and CO2 removal from the air. The authors investigated different methods for disrupting microalgae cell membranes and their effects on biohydrogen yield. The results showed that thermal and acid treatments resulted in the highest hydrogen production, while microwave radiation did not yield significant results. Treatment enhanced biohydrogen yield.
