Synthesis of monometallic macrostructured catalysts for bromate reduction in a continuous catalytic system

A. Sofia G. G. Santos et al.

Summary: In recent years, mechano-chemically modified carbon nanotubes have been widely used in catalysis, but their compatibility with traditional coating methods is limited. This study proposes a novel method for coating macro-structured catalysts with pre-modified monometallic CNT catalysts, using a solution of surfactant to achieve catalyst-binding. The activity of the prepared catalysts is influenced by factors such as metallic dispersion, surfactant coverage, and distribution of the palladium throughout the catalytic layer.

Design of macrostructured bimetallic MWCNT catalysts for multi-phasic hydrogenation in water treatment with pre- and post-coating metal phase impregnation

A. Sofia G. G. Santos et al.

Summary: The design of macrostructured bimetallic catalysts with enhanced catalytic activity and selectivity was systematically studied in this work. Different synthesis methodologies were adopted to improve the metal-metal interaction, which is an important property influencing the efficiency of the bimetallic catalyst. Metal phase distribution through coating layers proved to be a key step for the synthesis of more active and N-2 selective structured catalysts.

Development of PdCu Structured Catalysts Based on ZrO2-CeO2 Materials Supported on Cordierite Monoliths for Water Remediation: Removal of Hazardous Oxyanions

Belen Peroni et al.

Summary: The study investigated the removal of hazardous oxyanions NO3-, NO2-, and BrO3- using novel PdCu/10ZrCe structured catalysts supported on cordierite monoliths. The catalyst showed good activity and selectivity in synthetic water, but lower activity in real water samples due to competition for active sites by different ions. The structured catalyst has potential for developing a system for water remediation based on PdCu/ZrO2-CeO2 materials.

Influence of preparation methods on the activity of macro-structured ball-milled MWCNT catalysts in the ozonation of organic pollutants

Joao Restivo et al.

Summary: A series of macro-structured catalysts consisting of nanostructured layers of mechanically processed MWCNT coated onto cordierite monoliths were prepared and evaluated for the first time in the ozonation of organic pollutants. The study showed that the positive effect of ball-milled MWCNT as catalysts in ozonation reactions is retained even after coating, despite a decrease in intrinsic activity of the powder material. The introduction of oxygen-containing surface functionalities improved the long-term stability of the nanostructured catalytic layers.
