Raman Spectroscopy to Monitor the Delivery of a Nano-Formulation of Vismodegib in the Skin

Gisela Eliane Gomez et al.

Summary: Raman spectroscopy was used to detect low quantities of Vismodegib in the skin. Transfersomes loaded with Vismodegib were prepared and applied to skin specimens. Raman spectroscopy showed potential as a non-invasive tool for monitoring hard-to-detect molecules in the skin.

Tacrolimus-Loaded Solid Lipid Nanoparticle Gel: Formulation Development and In Vitro Assessment for Topical Applications

Abdul Shakur Khan et al.

Summary: The study fabricated tacrolimus-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) converted into a gel for improved topical applications. The SLNs had small particle size and stable distribution, while the gel form showed better drug permeation and retention properties.

Rheological and tribological properties of low-temperature greases based on cellulose acetate butyrate gel

Svetlana N. Gorbacheva et al.

Summary: A new approach to produce biodegradable low-temperature greases based on CAB/ATBC systems is proposed, with CAB gelation reducing the wear coefficient but increasing the friction coefficient. The introduction of various solid additives, especially PTFE at 10% concentration, has been shown to improve the tribological properties of gel greases.

The Topical Nanodelivery of Vismodegib Enhances Its Skin Penetration and Performance In Vitro While Reducing Its Toxicity In Vivo

Maria Natalia Calienni et al.

Summary: Vismodegib, a first-in-class inhibitor for advanced basal cell carcinoma treatment, can be loaded into different nanosystems to reduce side effects and drug quantities. Lipidic systems, such as ultradeformable liposomes, were found to be the most effective in delivering Vismodegib to deep skin layers.

Viscoelastic and Deformation Characteristics of Structurally Different Commercial Topical Systems

Maryam Dabbaghi et al.

Summary: The rheological characteristics and shear response play a crucial role in defining the pharmaceutical equivalence, therapeutic equivalence, and perceptive equivalence of commercial topical products. Different cream and gel formulations exhibited distinct behaviors, with the creams showing relatively brittle deformation and the gels displaying gradual disentanglement of the polymer network. These analyses not only ensure quality and stability but also help to characterize the microstructure as flexible (gels) or inelastic (creams).
