The psoas muscle density as a predictor of postoperative complications and 30-day mortality for acute mesenteric ischemia patients

Summary: In this study, the relationship between sarcopenia measured by psoas muscle index and postoperative complications in colorectal cancer surgery was analyzed. The results showed a significant association between psoas muscle index and complication grade, with lower psoas muscle area, total psoas muscle area, and psoas muscle index observed in patients with complications. Furthermore, perioperative inflammatory and nutritional status, as indicated by serum C-reactive protein and albumin levels, were found to influence the presence of postoperative complications.
