Outcome of adolescents and young adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in a single center in Brazil

Thais Ferraz Aguiar et al.

Summary: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) presents a poor prognosis in adults, but the adoption of pediatric protocols has improved survival time in the adolescent and young adult (AYA) subgroup. High mortality rates were mainly caused by sepsis. In the AYA group, the Berlin-Frankfurt-Munster (BFM) protocol showed better overall survival results.

Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Results of the Randomized Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Intercontinental-Berlin-Frankfurt-MUnster 2009 Trial

Myriam Campbell et al.

Summary: The International BFM study group conducted a study on pediatric ALL, evaluating MRD using FCM and the impact of early intensification and MTX dose on survival. The results showed that MRD was successfully assessed using FCM, and a dose of 2g/m2 MTX was effective in preventing relapse in non-HR pcB-ALL. Augmented IB showed no advantages over the standard IB.

Outcome of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment in a single center in Brazil: A survival analysis study

Thais A. Bonilha et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the results of children with ALL treated at a single institution in Rio de Janeiro. The overall survival (OS) and events-free survival (EFS) probabilities at 6 years were 52% and 45%. Patients aged 10-17 had lower OS and EFS probabilities compared to younger patients, with certain risk factors impacting survival rates.

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Survival in Children Covered by Seguro Popular in Mexico: A National Comprehensive Analysis 2005-2017

Paloma Munoz-Aguirre et al.

Summary: The study aimed to measure the survival of children with ALL in Mexico under the Seguro Popular program. They found that the number of children receiving treatment and survival rate increased under this program, but there were wide variations in survival rates among different states. Factors such as the type of hospital, the presence of a pediatric oncology specialist, and patient volume were associated with a higher risk of mortality in children.
