Impact of obesity and white adipose tissue inflammation on the omental microenvironment in endometrial cancer

Lea A. Moukarzel et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between white adipose tissue (WAT) inflammation and endometrial cancer (EC). It found that WAT inflammation was associated with metabolic syndrome, obesity, and increased levels of inflammatory markers, as well as upregulation of proinflammatory and proneoplastic genes.

Deregulation of ribosomal proteins in human cancers

Wendy El Khoury et al.

Summary: The ribosome, composed of rRNAs and RPs, is the site for protein synthesis. RPs have been shown to play roles in various pathological processes, especially tumorigenesis and cell transformation. This review focuses on recent advances in understanding the effects of RPs deregulation in different types of cancer and their roles in regulating tumor cell fate.

Isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation-based proteomics analysis of the effect of ginger oil on bisphenol A-induced breast cancer cell proliferation

Dan Lei et al.

Summary: Several environmental chemicals with estrogenic activity can disrupt cell function and endocrine functions, leading to an increased risk of estrogen-related tumors. Ginger has been shown to inhibit estrogen receptor expression and promote apoptosis in breast cancer cells. When MCF-7 cells were treated with ginger essential oil (GEO), bisphenol A (BPA), or a combination of both, significant changes in protein expression were observed, particularly in pathways related to oxidative phosphorylation. This suggests that GEO-BPA treatment may induce oxidative stress and cell death in breast cancer cells, potentially offering a new approach for breast cancer treatment related to environmental estrogen exposure.

Comprehensive serum proteomic analysis in early endometrial cancer

Denise S. Uyar et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify unique biomarkers of early stage, low-grade endometrial cancer through comprehensive proteomic analysis of patient serum, with FAM83D identified as a potential biomarker. The overexpression of FAM83D in early endometrial cancer samples suggests its significance as a target for therapies in a disease with few biomarkers.

A Narrative Review of the Role of Diet and Lifestyle Factors in the Development and Prevention of Endometrial Cancer

Hajar Ku Yasin et al.

Summary: Endometrial cancer is on the rise globally due to factors such as lifestyle changes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. Apart from hormonal and genetic influences, high glycaemic index diets and sedentary lifestyles are contributing to the increased risk. However, there is a lack of research and clinical trials investigating the interactions between diet, lifestyle, and endometrial cancer risk.

Expression of the putative cannabinoid receptor GPR55 is increased in endometrial carcinoma

Thangesweran Ayakannu et al.

Summary: The expression of GPR55 was found to be significantly higher in patients with endometrial cancer compared to control tissues. GPR55 levels were correlated with its transcript levels and inversely correlated with CB2 receptor protein expression, suggesting a potential role for GPR55 as a biomarker and therapeutic target in endometrial cancer.
