Trends in Gynecologic Carcinosarcoma Based on Analysis of the Surveillance Epidemiology End Result (SEER) Database

Joo Won Lee et al.

Summary: Carcinosarcomas of a female genital organ are rare tumors associated with poor survival. This study aimed to identify site-specific differences in incidence and prognosis of carcinosarcomas originating in the uterus, cervix, or ovary. The incidence rates of uterine, cervical, and ovarian carcinosarcoma were 3.9, 0.1, and 0.6 per 1,000,000, respectively. Uterine carcinosarcoma showed a higher incidence and better prognosis compared to ovarian and cervical carcinosarcoma.

Explaining Correlates of Cervical Cancer Screening among Minority Women in the United States

Manoj Sharma et al.

Summary: Globally, cervical cancer is the fourth leading cause of death among women. Minority women in the United States are disproportionately affected compared to White women. This cross-sectional study examines the correlates of cervical cancer screening using the Multi-theory Model (MTM) among minority women. The results show that participatory dialogue, behavioral confidence, and changes in the physical and social environment play a significant role in promoting and sustaining the behavior of getting Pap tests. This study validates the need for health promotion interventions based on MTM to address the disparities in cervical cancer screenings among minority women.

Advances in Chemotherapy and Targeted Therapies in Endometrial Cancer

Setsuko K. Chambers

Summary: Endometrial cancer is now recognized as multiple diseases with differing biology and responses to treatment. Improved molecular characterization has led to the development and testing of targeted therapies in different cohorts of endometrial cancer. Lessons learned from other cancers with similar molecular typing provide insights into potential tumor behavior in endometrial cancer.
