Dipeptidyl peptidase-1 inhibition with brensocatib reduces the activity of all major neutrophil serine proteases in patients with bronchiectasis: results from the WILLOW trial

David Cipolla et al.

Summary: The research found that treatment with brensocatib can reduce the activity of NE, PR3, and CatG in sputum in patients with NCFBE, and it has a broad anti-inflammatory effect.

Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic Evaluation of the Dipeptidyl Peptidase 1 Inhibitor Brensocatib for Non-cystic Fibrosis Bronchiectasis

James D. Chalmers et al.

Summary: Brensocatib, an investigational drug, has shown promise in reducing neutrophil elastase activity in patients with NCFBE. The study found that age and renal function have a moderate effect on brensocatib exposure, but dose adjustments based on these factors are not necessary. Further development of brensocatib for bronchiectasis is supported by the clinically meaningful relationship between suppression of neutrophil elastase activity and reduction in exacerbations.

Clinical Calculator Based on Molecular and Clinicopathologic Characteristics Predicts Recurrence Following Resection of Stage I-III Colon Cancer

Martin R. Weiser et al.

Summary: Clinical calculators and nomograms are recommended by the AJCC for providing individualized and accurate estimates of patient outcome. A third-generation clinical calculator was developed to predict cancer recurrence following resection of stage I-III colon cancer, demonstrating improved discrimination and predictive accuracy by incorporating new variables such as microsatellite genomic phenotype and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.

Prognostic significance of esterase gene expression in multiple myeloma

Romika Kumari et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the biological significance of esterase expression in multiple myeloma (MM) by analyzing gene expression profiling and genomic variants in patients with newly diagnosed MM (NDMM) or relapsed/refractory MM (RRMM). High or low expression of specific esterases in MM, such as UCHL5, SIAE, ESD, PAFAH1B3, PNPLA4, and PON1, were significantly altered as patients progressed from NDMM to RRMM. Certain esterases, like OVCA2, PAFAH1B3, SIAE, USP4, and PCED1B, were identified as poor prognostic markers, suggesting their potential role in myeloma biology.

Aminopeptidase Expression in Multiple Myeloma Associates with Disease Progression and Sensitivity to Melflufen

Juho J. Miettinen et al.

Summary: The study identified differential expression of aminopeptidases associated with survival in multiple myeloma patients, highlighted the effectiveness of melflufen in relapsed/refractory cases, and demonstrated the role of specific aminopeptidases in activating the drug.

Hypoxia-Related Gene FUT11 Promotes Pancreatic Cancer Progression by Maintaining the Stability of PDK1

Wenpeng Cao et al.

Summary: The study reveals that FUT11 is significantly increased under hypoxia and predicts poor prognosis in PC patients, while inhibition of FUT11 can significantly reduce proliferation and migration of PC cells. FUT11 promotes proliferation and metastasis of PC by maintaining the stability of PDK1.

Identification of Dipeptidyl Peptidase (DPP) Family Genes in Clinical Breast Cancer Patients via an Integrated Bioinformatics Approach

Tak-Kee Choy et al.

Summary: The study of DPP family in breast cancer revealed that DPP3 and DPP9 had significantly high expression levels in cancer tissues compared to normal tissues, with high expression of DPP3 and DPP4 associated with poor survival in breast cancer patients. On the other hand, high expression levels of DPP6, DPP7, DPP8, and DPP9 were linked to good prognoses in patients. Positive correlations were also found between DPP family genes and various signaling pathways related to cell cycle, TGF-beta, opioid receptors, and immune response.
