The Role of Flaxseed in Improving Human Health

Wioletta Nowak et al.

Summary: Flaxseed is considered a superfood due to its high content of biologically active components and numerous health benefits. Regular consumption of flaxseed can improve lipid profile, lower blood pressure and blood sugar, and reduce insulin resistance. It also possesses anticancer and antioxidant properties, and can alleviate symptoms associated with menopause, constipation, and mental fatigue, as well as improve skin condition and wound healing. However, flaxseed also contains antinutrients that may limit its health-promoting effects. Ground flaxseed is recommended for optimal bioavailability of its bioactive components.

Anti-Melanogenesis Effects of a Cyclic Peptide Derived from Flaxseed via Inhibition of CREB Pathway

Ji Hye Yoon et al.

Summary: This study investigated the inhibitory effects of cyclic peptides Linosorbs (Los) from flaxseed oil on melanogenesis, and found that LOMIX and LO could suppress melanin synthesis by downregulating the CREB-dependent signaling pathways, suggesting their potential application in treating hyperpigmentation.

Identification and Characterization of the Stability of Hydrophobic Cyclolinopeptides From Flaxseed Oil

Adnan Fojnica et al.

Summary: This study analyzed CLPs in samples obtained from nine different flaxseed oil manufacturers using HPLC-MS. The concentration and composition of CLPs varied substantially among the different manufacturers, possibly due to differences in plant cultivars. Most CLPs gradually degraded over time, even at room temperature.

Clinical trials in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Challenges and future perspectives

Dragana Stanisic et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the registration process for clinical trials in Bosnia and Herzegovina compared to other Balkan countries. The results showed that Bosnia has the lowest number of clinical trials and the registration process is complex and time-consuming. Recommendations include establishing an ethical committee at the state level and enabling parallel submission to ethical committees and databases to improve the registration process.

Novel trends and opportunities for microencapsulation of flaxseed oil in foods: A review

Kouadio Jean Eric-Parfait Kouame et al.

Summary: Flaxseed oil is associated with the prevention and reduction of several serious diseases, mainly due to its omega-3 fatty acid content. However, factors like pH, temperature, oxygen, and light can limit the incorporation of omega-3 fatty acids into various food products. The development of microencapsulation techniques has allowed for the design of flaxseed oil-enriched food products to overcome these limitations, ensuring better stability and bioavailability of active compounds.

Methionine epimerization in cyclic peptides

Pramodkumar D. Jadhav et al.

Summary: Bioactive flax cyclic peptides containing single methionine (Met) and its oxidized forms were subjected to regio-selective epimerization under mild alkaline conditions. The developed d-amino isomers and Met alkylation strategy provide a novel approach to chemical functionalization of biomolecules. These d-amino analogs can serve as potential biomarkers in plant protein processing and biomedical applications.
