Ten-year experience with sutureless Perceval bioprosthesis: single-centre analysis in 1157 implants

Giovanni Concistre et al.

Summary: This study describes the long-term clinical and echocardiographic outcomes of patients undergoing aortic valve replacement (AVR) using the Perceval bioprosthesis. The results show that the use of Perceval bioprosthesis is associated with good clinical results and excellent hemodynamic performance in a 10-year experience.

Updates on bioprosthetic valve fracture

Shiv Bagga et al.

Summary: Valve-in-valve transcatheter valve replacement has the potential to be a safer treatment option for failed bioprosthetic surgical valves. Bioprosthetic valve fracture and remodeling can improve valve hemodynamics, but more research is needed to determine long-term outcomes and the role of these techniques in different valve positions.

Clinical and hemodynamic outcomes of the Perceval sutureless aortic valve from a real-world registry

Giovanni Concistre et al.

Summary: This study reports the real-world clinical and haemodynamic performance of Perceval sutureless valve in patients undergoing aortic valve replacement. The results show that Perceval is a safe and effective alternative to conventional surgical aortic valve replacement, providing favorable clinical and hemodynamic outcomes.

Summary: This article reports the experience of ViV-TAVI in early-failing Perceval valve patients and reviews the literature on this indication. The results demonstrate that ViV-TAVI is a useful option for failed Perceval prostheses and appears to be safe and effective in this small series.

Valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation versus repeat surgical aortic valve replacement in patients with a failed aortic bioprosthesis

Monil Majmundar et al.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation (ViV TAVI) with repeat surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in patients with a failed aortic bioprosthetic valve. The results showed that ViV TAVI was associated with lower in-hospital mortality but higher rates of 30-day and 6-month all-cause readmission compared with repeat SAVR. However, there were no differences in the risk of in-hospital stroke, post-procedure pacemaker implantation, major adverse cardiac events (MACE), and mortality during readmission between the two groups.

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation in degenerated surgical aortic valves

Giuseppe Tarantini et al.

Summary: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) within failed bioprosthetic surgical aortic valves (valve-in-valve TAVI) is a well-established procedure for high-risk patients needing repeat aortic valve intervention. Challenges in valve-in-valve treatment include malposition, prosthesis-patient mismatch, and coronary obstruction, highlighting the importance of optimal patient selection and preprocedural planning to minimize risks. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of key periprocedural considerations for valve-in-valve TAVI.

Bioprosthetic valve fracture: a practical guide

Summary: VIV TAVR is indicated for treating failed surgical tissue valves in high surgical risk patients, but can lead to suboptimal THV expansion and PPM in small surgical valves. BVF and BVR can facilitate VIV TAVR by optimizing THV expansion and reducing residual transvalvular gradient.
