Fetal intelligent navigation echocardiography (FINE) has superior performance compared to manual navigation of the fetal heart by non-expert sonologists

Katie Swor et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the performance of non-expert sonologists in obtaining normal fetal cardiac views using manual and intelligent navigation (FINE) methods. The results showed that FINE had a higher success rate (92-100% vs. 56-88%), shorter time (2:11 vs. 15:49), and higher success rate in obtaining all cardiac views (86% vs. 14%) compared to manual navigation.

Utility of fetal cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in assessing the cardiac axis in fetuses with congenital heart disease

Ke Liu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the accuracy of fetal cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in measuring the cardiac axis in fetuses with congenital heart disease as an adjunct to fetal dedicated echocardiography, and to assess the predictive value of fetal cardiac MRI measurements in distinguishing healthy fetuses from fetuses with congenital heart disease.

New and advanced features of fetal intelligent navigation echocardiography (FINE) or 5D heart

Lami Yeo et al.

Summary: The Fetal Intelligent Navigation Echocardiography (FINE) method has been developed to simplify and improve the detection of congenital heart disease (CHD) in fetal echocardiography. It automatically displays nine standard fetal echocardiography views, making the examination process easier and reducing operator dependency. FINE has high sensitivity and specificity for CHD detection.

Impact of rural residence and low socioeconomic status on rate and timing of prenatal detection of major congenital heart disease in a jurisdiction of universal health coverage

A. Kaur et al.

Summary: This study examined the impact of socioeconomic status (SES) and residence distance on prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) in Alberta, Canada. The results showed that rural residence and greater distance from tertiary care were associated with lower rates of prenatal diagnosis and higher risks of late diagnosis. In metropolitan areas, lower SES was also found to negatively impact the rate and timing of prenatal diagnosis.

Normal values of cardiac axis (CA) measurements in healthy fetuses during the first trimester screening ultrasound

Assaad Kesrouani et al.

Summary: The study reported normal fetal cardiac axis values during the first trimester screening ultrasound. It found that there is a significant correlation between cardiac axis and Crown-rump length, with higher Crown-rump length associated with a decrease in cardiac axis. Further research is needed to differentiate between normal and abnormal values for the early detection of heart abnormalities.

A holistic sonographic view on congenital heart disease: How automatic reconstruction using fetal intelligent navigation echocardiography eases unveiling of abnormal cardiac anatomy part II-Left heart anomalies

Summary: Four-dimensional ultrasound technology provides valuable information on fetal anatomy, but manual navigation through volume datasets is operator dependent. The use of automatic ultrasound technology shows promise in simplifying fetal cardiac volumetric examinations with high sensitivity and specificity in detecting congenital heart defects.
