Signs, Symptoms, and Morphological Features of Idiopathic Condylar Resorption in Orthodontic Patients: A Survey-Based Study

Summary: This study investigates the causes and symptoms of idiopathic condylar resorption (ICR) in orthodontic patients. The results suggest that ICR may be caused by a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors. It is also recommended to perform CT evaluation for patients suspected of having ICR.

Mandibular stability and condylar changes following orthognathic surgery in mandibular hypoplasia patients associated with preoperative condylar resorption

Summary: This study evaluated the postoperative stability and condylar changes in patients with mandibular hypoplasia and preoperative condylar resorption undergoing orthognathic surgery. The results showed that one year after surgery, the mandibular relapse was clinically acceptable, but there was a reduction in condylar volume. Postoperative relapse was associated with mandibular advancement and joint space, while postoperative condylar resorption was associated with vertical increasement.
