Adsorption of brilliant green dye onto activated carbon prepared from cashew nut shell by KOH activation: Studies on equilibrium isotherm

P. Samiyammal et al.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of activated carbon from cashew nut shell produced by potassium hydroxide activation at 600 degrees C in an N2 atmosphere. The sample obtained with a CNS/KOH ratio of 1:1 had the highest surface area compared to other ratio samples. The effects of contact time, pH, adsorbent dose, and initial dye concentration on brilliant green (BG) removal efficiency were studied using the CNS/KOH ratio of 1:1 sample as the adsorbent. The Langmuir isotherm provided the best fit for the experimental equilibrium data, with a maximum BG adsorption capacity of 243.90 mg/g.

Enhanced toxic dye removal from wastewater using biodegradable polymeric natural adsorbent

Khadiza Tul Kubra et al.

Summary: The study investigated the encapsulation of toxic cationic dye methylene blue (MB) by polymeric natural carbohydrate turmeric powder (TP) adsorbent. The research optimized the MB dye adsorption system and quantified the contributions of adsorption and complexation on MB dye removal by TP adsorbent. The study found that TP adsorbent showed favorable dye capturing ability in neutral pH conditions and could be used for efficient removal of organic dyes from water samples to maintain water quality.

Adsorption of Organic Dyes on Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles. Part I: Mechanisms and Adsorption-Induced Nanoparticle Agglomeration

Delphine Talbot et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of organic dye adsorption on the surface of nanoparticles on primary and secondary agglomeration, with the main findings being that dye adsorption is largely driven by electrostatic interactions and is sensitive to pH and ionic strength variations. The primary agglomeration of nanoparticles may result from interactions between adsorbed dye molecules. In terms of application, citrated nanoparticles show promise for water treatment with good reusability, maintaining an adsorption efficiency of around 99% after nine cycles.
