Coating of 3D-printed poly (ε-caprolactone) scaffolds with silk protein sericin enhances the osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells

Soodeh Iranpour et al.

Summary: In this study, the bioactivity of Poly (epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL) scaffold was enhanced through surface modification with sericin. The sericin-coated scaffold exhibited improved hydrophilicity and well-defined interconnected pores, leading to enhanced cell adhesion and penetration. The results of various assays demonstrated the potential of sericin-coated scaffold for orthopedic applications.

Surface modification of titanium implants via electrospinning of sericin and Equisetum arvense enhances the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells

Mehri Sadat Marvi et al.

Summary: A bioactive nanofibrous coating containing different amounts of Equisetum arvense (EA) was successfully obtained by electrospinning process, leading to the deposition of coral-like apatite layers on titanium plates after soaking in simulated body fluid. Increasing EA content enhanced the adhesive strength and the amount of deposited apatite layer, improving the bioactivity and osteoinductivity of the titanium plates.
