Nanocellulose-Carboxymethylcellulose Electrolyte for Stable, High-Rate Zinc-Ion Batteries

Lin Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a nanocellulose-carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) hydrogel electrolyte is demonstrated for aqueous Zn ion batteries (ZIBs) that features stable cycling performance and high Zn2+ conductivity. With this electrolyte, the Zn-metal anode shows exceptional cycling stability at an ultra-high rate, with the ability to sustain a current density as high as 80 mA cm(-2) for more than 3500 cycles. Full Zn||MnO2 batteries fabricated with this electrolyte demonstrate excellent high-rate performance and long-term cycling stability. It suggests the cellulose-CMC electrolyte as a promising low-cost and easy-to-fabricate aqueous-based electrolyte for ZIBs.

High-Performance Photodetector with a-IGZO/PbS Quantum Dots Heterojunction

Cong Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper reports a novel amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide/lead sulfide quantum dots (a-IGZO/PbS QDs) heterojunction photoconductor. By innovatively increasing the photocurrent by several orders of magnitude without generating additional noise, the sensitivity and responsiveness of the device have been improved. Compared with the initial pure PbS QDs-based photoconductor, the heterojunction device can increase the photocurrent by 3000 times and improve the response speed of the device with the help of interface-assisted carrier separation and recombination. In the NIR band, the device exhibits exciting performance with a detectivity of 1.53 x 10^13 Jones, a responsivity of 19070 mA/W, and a decay time of 0.39 ms. By applying the a-IGZO/PbS QDs heterojunction to paper-based devices, a flexible device with bending resistance can be obtained, and the detection performance of the device does not deteriorate after 1000 times of bending.

Stable CsPbX3 (Br/Cl) Perovskite Nanocrystal Layer Passivated with Al-Doped CdSe for Blue Light-Emitting Diodes

Muhammad Amin Padhiar et al.

Summary: Perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) with adjustable emission bands and high photoluminescence are ideal for optical devices. This study introduces a simple strategy to enhance the stability of blue-light emitting PNCs, achieving highly stable PNCs with changes in bandgaps and PLQY values. The doped PNCs show potential for use as color converters in liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and demonstrate remarkable stability under various ambient conditions.

Suppression of Coffee-Ring Effect in Air-Processed Inkjet-Printed Perovskite Layer toward the Fabrication of Efficient Large-Sized All-Printed Photovoltaics: A Perovskite Precursor Ink Concentration Regulation Strategy

Dimitris A. Chalkias et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the development of high-efficiency, stable, and reproducible large-sized all-printed perovskite modules using piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet-printing technology. The influence of perovskite precursor ink concentration on inkjet performance, substrate wettability, and the characteristics of the printed perovskite layers and photovoltaics were investigated. The results demonstrate that regulating the ink concentration effectively suppresses the coffee-ring effect and improves the quality and efficiency of the printed perovskite layers and photovoltaics.

Mechanical stress and morphology evolution in RuO2 thin film electrodes during lithiation and delithiation

Lin Xu et al.

Summary: RuO2 is a promising electrode material for thin film lithium-ion batteries, due to its excellent properties such as large volumetric charge capacity, high rate capability, and excellent cyclability. In this study, the evolution of mechanical stress during lithiation and delithiation of RuO2 was investigated and compared with Si and Ge thin film electrodes. The results show that the behavior of the mechanical stress in RuO2 is fundamentally different, mainly due to the reversibility of the solid electrolyte interface (SEI) formation on RuO2. The small tensile stress during delithiation of RuO2 allows for better accommodation of the stress induced by volume changes, which may contribute to its better cyclability compared to Si and Ge films.
