Summary: The study successfully grew gamma-glycine single crystals using solvent evaporation technique with L-Proline (1 M) and potassium chloride at various concentrations. XRD analysis confirmed the gamma-polymorphism in glycine, with the best results achieved at 0.25 M% KCl. FE-SEM mapping and UV-Visible spectrum analysis showed that 0.25 M% KCl mediated gamma-glycine exhibited high optical properties, while TG/DTA demonstrated higher stability. Mechanical strength and dielectric properties were assessed using micro hardness and EIS analysis, achieving SHG efficiency of 75% compared to KDP crystals.

Achieving a highly efficient chitosan-based triboelectric nanogenerator via adding organic proteins: Influence of morphology and molecular structure

Thitirat Charoonsuk et al.

Summary: The study focuses on utilizing biodegradable materials in the development of efficient triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) for electronic devices operating near the human body. By incorporating protein-based compounds as fillers in a chitosan (CS) matrix, the output performance of TENG was improved. Different types of proteins, such as albumin, egg-shell membrane (ESM) and silk fiber (SF), were explored for their effects on output performance, with the combination of glycine, alanine, and serine proving to be the most effective in enhancing TENG output voltage and current. The addition of silk fiber (SF) in the CS matrix resulted in the best output voltage and current compared to other additives, with biodegradability confirmed through soil burial tests showing consistent output after 9 weeks.
