The comparison of sex differences in depression-like behaviors and neuroinflammatory changes in a rat model of depression induced by chronic stress

Juan Xia et al.

Summary: This study explored the sex differences in behaviors and depressive pathological mechanisms induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). The results showed that female rats exhibited more significant depression-like behaviors and neuroinflammatory response after stress, indicating that females may be more susceptible to depression than males in a stressful environment.

Postpartum depression and anxiety: a community-based study on risk factors before, during and after pregnancy

Angarath Van der Zee-van den Berg et al.

Summary: Through studying risk factors for postpartum depression and anxiety, it was found that factors such as speaking a foreign language at home, a history of depression, low maternal self-efficacy, and poor current health were associated with a higher risk of depression. On the other hand, factors such as higher educational level, history of depression, preterm birth, negative experiences, low partner support, and poor maternal health were associated with a higher risk of anxiety.
