The effect of progesterone supplementation for luteal phase support in natural cycle frozen embryo transfer: a systematic review and meta-analysis based on randomized controlled trials

Yanbiao Jiang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of progesterone supplementation on the reproductive outcomes of patients undergoing NC-FET cycles. The results showed that progesterone supplementation was associated with increased live birth rate and clinical pregnancy rate, especially in traditional NC-FET cycles.

Effectiveness of progesterone rescue in women presenting low circulating progesterone levels around the day of embryo transfer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Konstantinos Stavridis et al.

Summary: In contemporary fertility units, frozen embryo transfer (FET) has become increasingly popular over the last decade. However, there is insufficient evidence to recommend an optimized protocol for endometrial preparation, especially for patients with lower progesterone levels. This study aimed to determine if rescue progesterone dosing in patients with low progesterone can improve outcomes and if those outcomes are comparable to patients with adequate progesterone levels.

Individualized luteal phase support normalizes live birth rate in women with low progesterone levels on the day of embryo transfer in artificial endometrial preparation cycles

Elena Labarta et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the impact of individualized luteal phase support (iLPS) on live birth rates in patients with low serum progesterone levels compared to those without iLPS. The results showed that the live birth rates of patients receiving iLPS were similar to those with normal serum progesterone levels.

The importance of serum progesterone concentration at embryo transfer day and effect of rescue additional progesterone during programmed artificial frozen embryo transfer cycles

Pinar Ozcan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and potential positive effects of additional rescue subcutaneous progesterone therapy on pregnancy rates during programmed artificial frozen embryo transfer cycles. The results showed that most patients with low serum progesterone concentrations on embryo transfer day were able to reach adequate levels with rescue treatment, and there was no significant difference in pregnancy rates between patients who achieved adequate concentrations and those with higher concentrations.

Individualised luteal phase support in artificially prepared frozen embryo transfer cycles based on serum progesterone levels: a prospective cohort study

Manuel Alvarez et al.

Summary: This study investigated whether individualized luteal phase support based on serum progesterone levels the day before embryo transfer can improve pregnancy outcomes for patients with low progesterone. The results showed that adding daily subcutaneous progesterone injections for patients with low progesterone levels prior to embryo transfer can lead to similar reproductive outcomes as those with adequate progesterone levels.

Should women receive luteal support following natural cycle frozen embryo transfer? A systematic review and meta-analysis

Yossi Mizrachi et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed whether luteal phase support (LPS) following natural cycle frozen embryo transfer (NC-FET) improves reproductive outcomes. The results indicated that progesterone LPS was associated with higher clinical pregnancy and live birth rates, while hCG administration for LPS did not show significant improvement. Further large randomized controlled trials are needed to validate these findings.

Endometrial preparation for frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

Hanglin Wu et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of different endometrial preparation protocols for frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles and present treatment hierarchies. Natural cycle treatment was found to have a higher chance of live birth and lower risks of pregnancy-induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, and very preterm birth compared to artificial cycle treatment. In contrast, artificial cycle treatment ranked last in effectiveness among the different protocols studied.

Cumulative live birth rate after IVF: trend over time and the impact of blastocyst culture and vitrification

Zoha Saket et al.

Summary: The study shows that cumulative live birth rate per oocyte aspiration has significantly increased over an 11-year period, from 27.0% to 36.3%, in parallel with an increase in blastocyst transfer and vitrification. The findings suggest that blastocyst transfer, especially in frozen embryo transfer cycles using vitrification, is a key factor contributing to the improved live birth rates over time.
