Identification and functional analysis of isopentenyl pyrophosphate isomerase genes in the whiteflies Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)

Zhifang Yang et al.

Summary: This study identified an isopentenyl pyrophosphate isomerase protein (BtabIPPI) in Bemisia tabaci, which is highly expressed in female adults and essential for their fecundity. The silencing of BtabIPPI decreased juvenile hormone levels and impaired the expression of reproductive-related genes, leading to a significant reduction in egg production. These findings contribute to our understanding of IPPI's role in insect reproduction and provide insights for pest control strategies targeting this enzyme.

A Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor BtabHNF4 Mediates Desiccation Tolerance and Fecundity in Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci)

Kui Wang et al.

Summary: This study identified a hepatocyte nuclear factor protein called BtabHNF4 in whiteflies, which plays a role in regulating physiological processes such as desiccation tolerance, egg production, and egg hatching rate. Additionally, silencing BtabHNF4 significantly inhibits the expression level of vitellogenin.

Role of Endocrine System in the Regulation of Female Insect Reproduction

Muhammad Zaryab Khalid et al.

Summary: Insects possess a highly adaptable reproductive system regulated by their endocrine hormones, with different insect orders showing variations in the regulation of vitellogenesis. Positive and negative interactions between endocrine hormones, such as 20E and JH, play crucial roles in regulating insect reproduction at different stages of their life cycle. Additionally, the impact of microbiomes on the insect endocrine system is also significant, as compounds produced by microbiota can affect hormone synthesis and function.

Neuropeptide Bursicon Influences Reproductive Physiology in Tribolium Castaneum

Jingjing Li et al.

Summary: Bursicon plays a crucial role in the reproductive physiology of beetles, and its knockdown leads to abnormal oocytes and reproductive impairment. Bursicon may influence Vg expression by regulating the expression of JH and IIS/TOR pathway genes, thereby modulating reproduction in T. castaneum.
