Progestin-Primed Ovarian Stimulation Versus Mild Stimulation Protocol in Advanced Age Women With Diminished Ovarian Reserve Undergoing Their First In Vitro Fertilization Cycle: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Xiaoyu Tu et al.

Summary: The progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) protocol is an effective alternative for advanced age women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), providing comparable reproductive outcomes and better control of premature LH surge. It also allows for a higher number of retrieved oocytes and top-quality embryos, which are positively associated with cumulative clinical pregnancy rate and cumulative live birth rate.

Clinical Efficacy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Combined with Progesterone Capsules in the Treatment of Infertility Caused by Diminished Ovarian Reserve and Its Influence on Serum FSH, E2, and LH Levels of Patients

Lingqin Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical efficacy of assisted reproductive technology (ART) combined with progesterone capsules in treating infertility caused by diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). The results showed that this combination therapy led to improved ovarian function, follicular development, and serum hormone levels compared to the control group. The clinical pregnancy rate was significantly higher and the abortion rate was significantly lower in the experimental group. These findings suggest that ART combined with progesterone capsules can be beneficial for patients with DOR-related infertility.

Electroacupuncture May Inhibit Oxidative Stress of Premature Ovarian Failure Mice by Regulating Intestinal Microbiota

Zixiang Geng et al.

Summary: This study explored the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on oxidative stress and intestinal microbiota in high-fat and high-sugar-induced premature ovarian failure (POF) mice. The results showed that EA effectively inhibited ovarian oxidative stress and accumulation of Fe2+ in POF mice, and also altered the intestinal microbiota composition. These findings suggest that EA may have clinical potential as a safe treatment for POF.

Effects of acupuncture treatment on microRNAs expression in ovarian tissues from Tripterygium glycoside-induced diminished ovarian reserve rats

Ge Lu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of acupuncture on miRNA profiling in ovarian tissues of DOR rats. The results suggest that acupuncture may alleviate DOR-induced oxidative stress through the downregulation of certain miRNAs, such as rno-miR-92b-3p, mdo-miR-26b-5p_R+1_1ss10TC, and bta-miR-7857-3p_R-1. The functional enrichment analysis also provides insights into the potential mechanisms involved, including positive regulation of transcription, signal transduction, and oxidation-reduction processes.

Effect of Electro-acupuncture on Expression of IRS-1/PI3K/GLUT4 Pathway in Ovarian Granulosa Cells of Infertile Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome-Insulin Resistance of Phlegm-Dampness Syndrome

Shan Xiang et al.

Summary: The study showed that electro-acupuncture treatment can reduce phlegm-dampness syndrome score and insulin resistance score in PCOS-IR patients. There were no significant differences in the number of retrieved oocytes and clinical pregnancy rate between the two groups, but the transplantable embryo rate, high-quality embryo rate, and live birth rate were significantly higher in the EA group. Gene expression analysis indicated an upregulation of IRS-1, PI3K, and GLUT4 mRNA in ovarian granulosa cells of the EA group.

Acupuncture regulates the autophagy of ovarian granulosa cells in polycystic ovarian syndrome ovulation disorder by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway through LncMEG3

Xiaohong Chen et al.

Summary: Acupuncture can improve ovulation dysfunction and abnormal follicular development in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome by down-regulating LncMEG3 expression, inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, reducing granulosa cell autophagy, and ultimately normalizing their proliferation, suggesting its clinical potential as a safe treatment for PCOS ovulatory dysfunction.

Acupuncture for Poor Ovarian Response: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Jihyun Kim et al.

Summary: The study showed that network-optimized acupuncture followed by IVF treatment significantly increased the number of retrieved mature oocytes in women with poor ovarian response, especially in those aged over 37 years and undergoing multiple controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycles. The negative correlation between the number of retrieved mature oocytes and consecutive controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycles was not observed in the acupuncture + IVF group, suggesting that acupuncture may be considered as a beneficial treatment option for women facing poor ovarian response and advanced maternal age or multiple IVF cycles.
