Synthesis of bee venom loaded chitosan nanoparticles for anti-MERS-COV and multi-drug resistance bacteria

Mohamed E. Elnosary et al.

Summary: This study aims to utilize bee venom as a substance to kill and inhibit microbes and viruses. Bee venom was loaded onto chitosan nanoparticles, resulting in a promising antiviral nanocomposite with small size distribution and good stability. The nanocomposite exhibited greater antimicrobial activity compared to chitosan nanoparticles or bee venom alone.

Molecular Profile and the Effectiveness of Antimicrobials Drugs Against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the Diagnostic Approaches of Otitis Infection

Mohammed S. Almuhayawi et al.

Summary: This study examined 58 patients with various types of ear infections in Sakaka, Al Jouf, Saudi Arabia and found that the most common bacteria causing ear infections were Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. All the bacteria strains isolated were found to have antibiotic resistance plasmids. The study concluded that vancomycin, linezolid, tigecycline, rifampin, and daptomycin are effective antibiotics against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa.

Global burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance in 2019: a systematic analysis

Christopher J. L. Murray et al.

Summary: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant threat to global human health, and this study provides the most comprehensive estimates of AMR burden to date. By estimating deaths and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) associated with bacterial AMR in 204 countries and territories in 2019, the study highlights the impact of resistance and the leading pathogen-drug combinations contributing to it.

Investigation of the Bacterial Contamination and Antibiotic Susceptibility Profile of Bacteria Isolated from Bottled Drinking Water

Anas Abdullah Hamad et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to assess the bacteriological quality of domestic bottled waters in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. The findings showed that some brands had bacteriological contents within permitted ranges. Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae were identified as the main contaminants. Penicillin, carbapenem, and quinolones were found to be the most effective treatments for infections caused by these bacteria.

Qianxing Wu et al.

Summary: The prevalence of VRSA has been increasing in recent years, particularly in Africa and Asia, compared to Europe and America. The most common genetic determinants associated with VRSA are vanA and SCCmec II, suggesting the need for rigorous monitoring, surveillance, and control measures to prevent further spread of VRSA.

Summary: The study in Ethiopia revealed a high proportion of MRSA with significant associations with hospital stay, wound depth, current antibiotic use, and previous infection history, while VRSA did not show significant associations. High proportions of S. aureus isolates became MRSA posing challenges for antibiotic treatment.
