Melamine-functionalized aromatic carbonyl-based polymer with high surface area for efficient CO2 capture

Seenu Ravi et al.

Summary: The synthesis and functionalization of a novel aromatic carbonyl polymer (ACP) via a one-pot Friedel-Crafts reaction and two amine ligands (EDA and MEL) are reported in this study. The resulting ACP-EDA and ACP-MEL polymers exhibited excellent CO2 uptake and higher CO2 selectivity for ACP-MEL. Covalent functionalization of highly porous materials with MEL groups showed promise for developing efficient CO2 adsorbents.

Understanding Hysteresis and Gas Trapping in Dissociating Hydrate-Bearing Sediments Using Pore Network Modeling and Three-Dimensional Imaging

Min Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of hydrate dissociation on gas trapping and hysteresis in capillary pressure and relative permeability. It finds that secondary hydrate formation promotes gas trapping, with higher residual gas saturation in water-wet systems compared to gas-wet systems. Gas trapping has a significant impact on hysteresis between drying and wetting cycles.

Pandemic, War, and Global Energy Transitions

Behnam Zakeri et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's war on Ukraine have had a negative impact on the global energy industry, causing fluctuations in energy demand, disruptions in energy supply chains, and hindering energy investments. However, these crises also presented opportunities for low-carbon energy transitions, which may have been missed due to short-term policy focus on supporting the fossil fuel industry.

A comparative gas sorption study of dicarbazole-derived microporous hyper-crosslinked polymers

Ali Enis Sadak

Summary: Tailoring selective gas uptake properties of porous organic polymers is crucial for gas separation and storage. In this study, three microporous networks with different linkers were synthesized and characterized, showing that the gas uptake properties and selectivity of the polymers can be controlled by the choice of linker. The obtained polymers exhibit high BET specific surface area, ultramicroporous character, thermal and chemical stability, and high gas uptake properties and selectivity.

Enhancing CO2Adsorption Capacity and Cycling Stability of Mg-MOF-74

Naef A. A. Qasem et al.

Summary: The study focused on enhancing the crystallinity, porosity, and capacity of Mg-MOF-74 by controlling the heat surface area during the synthesis process. By increasing the heat surface area, the BET surface area and pore volume of the adsorbent were improved significantly. Incorporating multi-walled carbon nanotubes with Mg-MOF-74 led to higher CO(2) recycling capacity using thermal-based regeneration processes.
