Ursolic Acid Suppresses Colorectal Cancer by Down-Regulation of Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway Activity

Hui Zhao et al.

Summary: Overwhelming evidence supports the role of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway in colorectal cancer (CRC) pathogenesis. Ursolic acid (UA), a pentacyclic triterpenoid found in various fruits and plants, has shown potent anticancer activity against CRC, although its mechanism of action is not fully understood. This study aimed to investigate the effects of UA on CRC and its impact on the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. The study demonstrated that UA significantly inhibited proliferation, migration, and clonality, induced apoptosis, and arrested the cell cycle in CRC cells. Moreover, UA suppressed tumor growth, improved pathological features, induced apoptosis, and arrested the cell cycle in CRC tissue, by diminishing the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. These findings suggest that UA has the potential to inhibit the malignant phenotype of CRC by attenuating the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling axis.

Adaptive Tracking Control for Output-Constrained Switched MIMO Pure-Feedback Nonlinear Systems with Input Saturation

Haoyan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this paper, an adaptive neural tracking control scheme is proposed for a class of uncertain switched multi-input multi-output pure-feedback nonlinear systems. The control method addresses the challenges caused by input and output constraints, unknown nonlinear functions, and time-varying external disturbances. The control design utilizes radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) to identify the unknown nonlinear functions representing system uncertainties, and the Nussbaum function to handle the nonlinearity issue caused by input saturation. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is demonstrated through numerical simulation.

Functional metal/covalent organic framework materials for triboelectric nanogenerator

Zhichao Shao et al.

Summary: Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is a new generation technology with easy manufacturing and high energy conversion efficiency, which has attracted extensive attention. However, the low current output performance of main organic polymers in triboelectric materials hinders the development of TENG for complex applications. Porous crystalline materials, such as MOFs and COFs, have been studied to improve TENG performance due to their adjustable structure properties. This review introduces the output enhancement mechanism, triboelectric properties, and applications of TENG based on porous crystalline materials, and discusses the challenges and prospects in developing high-performance and multifunctional TENG.

Observer-based adaptive fuzzy hierarchical sliding mode control of uncertain under-actuated switched nonlinear systems with input quantization

Haoyan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this article, an observer-based adaptive fuzzy hierarchical sliding mode control scheme is proposed for uncertain under-actuated switched nonlinear systems with quantized input signals. The problems of quantized input signals, external disturbances, unmeasured system states, and unknown nonlinear functions are considered. The proposed control scheme effectively avoids chattering phenomena and utilizes fuzzy logic systems and a switched fuzzy state observer for approximation and estimation. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, the scheme ensures boundedness of all signals and good tracking performance. A numerical simulation example is provided to verify its effectiveness.
