Passive Covert Communications Based on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface

Yingjie Wu et al.

Summary: This letter proposes a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-based passive covert communication scheme, which utilizes the RIS to covertly transmit signals and adjust the phase shifts and reflection amplitude to align the phases of the received reflected signals at the receiver and satisfy the covert constraint. Analytical derivations of the detection error probability and decoding error probability in Rayleigh fading channels are presented. The results show that the proposed scheme can enhance transmission reliability by increasing the elements of the RIS while satisfying the covert constraint.
