Facilitating URLLC in UAV-Assisted Relay Systems With Multiple-Mobile Robots for 6G Networks: A Prospective of Agriculture 4.0

Ali Ranjha et al.

Summary: This article investigates the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as decode-and-forward relays for low-latency communication of short blocklength packets between a controller and multiple mobile robots in the context of Agriculture 4.0. By utilizing perturbation theory and iterative optimization, the optimal UAV's height, location, antenna beamwidth, and resource allocation are determined to minimize decoding errors. Results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other benchmark algorithms and achieves similar performance to the smart exhaustive search.

Packet Error Probability and Effective Throughput for Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency UAV Communications

Kezhi Wang et al.

Summary: This paper studies the average packet error probability (APEP) and effective throughput (ET) of the control link in unmanned-aerial-vehicle (UAV) communications, focusing on the use of short packets for low-latency requirements. Analytical expressions are derived for these metrics in both free space (FS) and 3-Dimensional (3D) channel models, and optimal packet length is obtained through one-dimensional search to maximize ET. The results are validated through Monte-Carlo simulations.

UAV-Assisted Wireless Energy and Data Transfer With Deep Reinforcement Learning

Zehui Xiong et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a Markov decision process (MDP) model to optimize energy and data transfer for UAV-assisted communication in massive machine type communication (mMTC). The MDP model is solved by value iteration algorithm to obtain optimal strategies for the UAV, and further extended to address uncertainties, partially observable states, and large state space. Simulation results demonstrate that the MDP model with deep reinforcement learning (DRL) can achieve better wireless energy and data transfer strategies compared to baseline schemes.

Network Resource Allocation for eMBB Payload and URLLC Control Information Communication Multiplexing in a Multi-UAV Relay Network

Xing Xi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates resource allocation for the eMBB payload and URLLC control information communication multiplexing in a multi-UAV relay network, proposing a comprehensive multi-UAV relay model considering various communication characteristics. The joint optimization problem of user association, bandwidth, and transmit power is challenging due to different capacity characteristics, coupling of continuous and integer variables, and non-convexity. Solutions are derived by decomposing the problem into URLLC and eMBB sub-problems, with closed-form expressions for optimal URLLC bandwidth and transmit power, and an iterative framework for eMBB optimization.
