DOA Estimation of Noncircular Signals Under Impulsive Noise Using a Novel Empirical Characteristic Function-Based MUSIC

Mohsen Asghari et al.

Summary: The authors have developed a novel ECF-based MUSIC algorithm for estimating the direction of noncircular signals. This method exploits the unique properties of ECF and achieves excellent performance in the presence of heavy tail noise, while also increasing the number of detectable sources.

Robust Matched Field Processing Using an Empirical Characteristic Function Approach Under Impulsive Noise Environments

Mohsen Asghari et al.

Summary: A novel Matched Field Processing (MFP) method employing the empirical characteristic function (ECF) has been developed. This method can produce precise results in the presence of extremely impulsive noises. Experimental results demonstrate its robustness in heavy tailed noise environments, low signal-to-noise ratios, and small sample sizes. It also outperforms previous approaches in terms of resolution probability.

ECF-MUSIC: An empirical characteristic function based direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in the presence of impulsive noise

Mohsen Asghari et al.

Summary: DOA estimation in the presence of impulsive signals and noises is challenging. This paper presents new methods based on the empirical characteristic function to improve the performance in heavy-tailed noise. Monte-Carlo simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in highly impulsive environments compared to available methods.

Generalized covariance-based ESPRIT-like solution to direction of arrival estimation for strictly non-circular signals under Alpha-stable distributed noise

Shengyang Luan et al.

Summary: A novel DOA estimation method, NC-GC-ESPRIT, is proposed for strictly non-circular signals, which shows superior performance compared to other candidate algorithms through Monte-Carlo simulations. The method enhances the ability to solve problems caused by lower-order Alpha-stable distributed noise by defining concepts and theorems.

Generalized covariance for non-Gaussian signal processing and GC-MUSIC under Alpha-stable distributed noise

Shengyang Luan et al.

Summary: Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation is a crucial technique applied in engineering applications, with multiple signal classification (MUSIC) gaining attention for its high resolution. The generalized covariance (GC) concept is proposed to handle noise, with different nonlinear functions introduced for GC and BNC to suppress outliers effectively. By comparing performances with other algorithms, GC-MUSIC and BNC-MUSIC show superiority under Alpha-stable distributed noise through Monte-Carlo simulations.

A Low Complexity DOA Estimation Method of CD Sources in Impulsive Noise

Ruiyan Cai et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel DOA estimation method for coherently distributed (CD) sources in impulsive noise, which improves the accuracy and robustness by reducing computational complexity and minimizing the 2D peak search steps. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed method surpasses that of existing methods.
