Theoretical modelling of structure, vibrational and UV-vis absorbance spectra of rubrofusarin molecule

D. Pankin et al.

Summary: The structure and rotational conformers of the rubrofusarin molecule were investigated using DFT approach. It was found that stable molecules have a group symmetry close to Cs. The rotation of the methoxy group had the smallest potential barrier. The modelling of vibrational spectra and electronic singlet transition were carried out, showing a small shift in absorption bands wavelength for the methoxy group rotation conformer and a larger shift for the tautomer.

Design of Device for Optical Luminescent Diagnostic of the Seeds Infected by Fusarium

Maksim N. Moskovskiy et al.

Summary: The development and application of optical luminescent methods and devices can provide fast and objective information about the level of Fusarium infection in agricultural plants. Spectral characteristics of excitation and luminescence were measured for wheat, barley, and oats of different infection degrees. Linear regression models and relative sensitivities were used to approximate the dependencies of flows on infection. The degree of infection can be determined by the ratio of flows phi lambda 1/phi lambda 2 for wheat and barley, increasing the sensitivity of the measuring device.

Investigation of Spectroscopic Peculiarities of Ergot-Infected Winter Wheat Grains

Dmitrii Pankin et al.

Summary: Wheat has been crucial in human agriculture for centuries, and the increasing production of processed wheat products necessitates laboratory studies for quality control, including the detection of fungal diseases. This study utilized spectroscopic methods to investigate ergot-infected wheat samples, and chemometric analysis was employed to identify the most specific spectral ranges.

Fungal pigments on paper: Raman and quantum chemistry studies of Alternaria Sp

Victor V. Volkov et al.

Summary: This study utilized Raman spectroscopy to investigate the diagnostic capacity of identifying colored chromophores of fungi on paper, exploring the characteristics of chromophores and biochemistry of fungi in different regions. By conducting quantum chemistry calculations and comparing theory with experiment, specific chromophores such as fonsecin, erythroglaucin, and carotenes were identified in fungal filaments. The diverse Raman resonances observed in different spatial regions provide insights into the rich biochemistry of developing fungal structures, essential for understanding the impact of fungi on paper objects and designing new materials based on fungal hyphal mats.

Complex Spectroscopic Study for Fusarium Genus Fungi Infection Diagnostics of Zalp Cultivar Oat

Dmitrii Pankin et al.

Summary: The study aims to develop spectroscopic approaches for identifying infected grains, using a combination of FTIR, Raman, and luminescence methods. The chemometric tools combined with these spectroscopic techniques allowed the identification of characteristic spectral features that may serve as infection markers. Carotenoid-type fungi pigment and chlorophyll alpha peaks were identified as indicators of infection on the grain husk.
