The mesoscopic fracture mechanism of rockbursts under gradient stresses

Xiqi Liu et al.

Summary: The tangential stress is high on tunnel walls and decreases in a gradient manner towards the interior of surrounding rocks. A mesoscopic model was created to study the effect of stress gradient on rockburst failure mechanisms. By using the particle flow code (PFC), the model analyzed the failure modes and energy evolution under different gradient stresses. The model also explored the features of acoustic emission (AE) events during rockbursts.

Evaluation of energy storage and release potentials of highly stressed rock pillar from rockburst control perspectives

Song Luo et al.

Summary: By conducting single-cyclic loading-unloading uniaxial compression tests on five types of rocks, the energy storage and release performances of rock pillars were evaluated. The relative energy storage potential was found to be insensitive to specimen shape, while the ultimate energy storage potential and energy release potential were influenced by specimen shape and rock type. Based on the findings, a theoretical approach for assessing the risk of rockburst in isolated rock pillars was illustrated, and the desired number of energy-absorbing bolts for rockburst support in engineering practice was quantitatively estimated.

Performance of dynamic reinforcements to restrain remote triggered strainburst associated failure

Eugie Kabwe

Summary: This paper presents the back-analysis and dynamic support scheme design for an underground crosscut exposed to a dynamically loaded strainburst. The study concludes that the occurrence of the strainburst was initiated by a low-intensity seismic wave, which led to rock fragment ejections. Therefore, an appropriate dynamic support scheme is proposed to restrain the associated damage.

Summary: With the continuous development of the global economy, environmental problems such as pollution, climate degradation, and global warming are becoming increasingly serious. To address these issues, the government is supporting the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs). This paper proposes a decision-making framework using the DEMATEL and COPRAS methods under an interval-valued probabilistic linguistic environment to select the optimal hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) supplier for NEVs. The proposed approach is illustrated through a case study in China, providing valuable references for selecting HFC suppliers in uncertain environments.
