Mechanistic Excess Fuel Consumption of a 3D Passenger Vehicle on Rough Pavements

Xiuyu Liu et al.

Summary: This paper presents an integrated vehicle-pavement approach and investigates the excess fuel consumption of a seven-DOF full-car model on rough pavements. The study concluded that overlooking local roughness variance may underestimate excess fuel consumption by 30%. Compared with a 2D half-car model, a 3D full-car model reduces computation error of excess fuel consumption by approximately 11%.

Applicability of smartphone-based roughness data for rural road pavement condition evaluation

R. M. K. Sandamal et al.

Summary: This study examines the feasibility of using smartphone-based roughness data to assess the pavement condition of rural roads, and compares it with the results from conventional roughness measurement equipment. The findings show a good correlation between the smartphone-based data and the conventional measurements, indicating that the smartphone-based method can accurately represent the pavement condition of rural roads.

Large-scale pavement roughness measurements with vehicle crowdsourced data using semi-supervised learning

Chenglong Liu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a semi-supervised learning model for large-scale pavement roughness evaluation, calculating the "international roughness index" using in-car vibration data. The method designs a self-training model in multi-vehicle scenarios and considers the confidence of vehicle parameters and IRI estimation to enhance reliability and robustness.
