Investigation on Preparation Method of SBS-Modified Asphalt Based on MSCR, LAS, and Fluorescence Microscopy

Yanlei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of different preparation methods on the performance and microstructure of SBS-modified asphalt. The results show that the optimal process involves shearing at specific temperature and shear conditions, followed by sulfurization and development. Sulfurization significantly affects the performance of SBS-modified asphalt, improving high-temperature performance and fatigue resistance by strengthening the polymer network.

Dispersion, compatibility, and rheological properties of graphene-modified asphalt binders

Yanhai Wang et al.

Summary: Graphene-modified asphalt binders have shown improved high-temperature performance, but there is still limited research on their low-temperature performance, dispersion, and compatibility. This study investigated the effects of graphene on different aspects of asphalt binders. The results indicate that adding 0.65% graphene to the binders leads to the best performance.

Multi-scale studies on interfacial system compatibility between asphalt and SBS modifier using molecular dynamics simulations and experimental methods

Xiaoguang Yao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interfacial property and compatibility between styrene-butadienestyrene (SBS) modifier and asphalt. The researchers used indexes such as interfacial energy, relative concentration, and radial distribution function to discuss the interfacial property and evaluate compatibility. They also conducted tests using laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to study the compatibility at different preparation temperatures. The results suggest that the compatibility between asphalt and SBS modifier is better at a preparation temperature of 170 degrees C, and this is due to the larger interfacial energy and more obvious interaction between aromatics and SBS modifier.
