Simulation Analysis of a Wavefront Reconstruction of a Large Aperture Laser Beam

Gangyu Wang et al.

Summary: To address the atmospheric influence on far-field measurement of laser beam quality, we proposed a direct wavefront measurement system based on the Hartmann detection principle, which can handle large apertures and high-power laser beams. The system consists of a lens array and a detector, allowing wavefront detection of large aperture laser beams through control of lens distances and sizes. Simulation results showed that the reconstruction accuracy of a duty factor of 0.8 was similar to that of a duty factor of 1 when the sub-lenses were not in close contact. The hexagonal arrangement of 19 lenses and the 8 x 8 lens array arrangement had high wavefront restoration accuracy below 0.10 lambda within a certain detection range. This system provides a new approach for measuring and analyzing the quality of large aperture laser beams, thereby improving measurement accuracy.

A Hybrid Model for Analysis of Laser Beam Distortions Using Monte Carlo and Shack-Hartmann Techniques: Numerical Study and Experimental Results

Ilya Galaktionov et al.

Summary: A hybrid model is developed to analyze distortions of a laser beam passing through a moderately scattering medium. The model includes Monte Carlo technique for beam propagation simulation, ray-tracing technique for scattered beam propagation, and Shack-Hartmann technique for calculating beam distortions. The results from the model are confirmed by laboratory experiments, showing that the amplitude of beam distortions increases exponentially with the concentration of scattering particles.

Improved BM3D method with modified block-matching and multi-scaled images

Gwang-Il Ri et al.

Summary: This paper proposes three improvements on the BM3D-based denoising method. Firstly, it introduces a new block similarity metric that takes into account the characteristics of noise in the observed images. Secondly, it mitigates the challenge of determining the optimal block size by combining BM3D with multi-scaled images. Lastly, it presents a method of assigning different weights to blocks based on their respective denoising degrees. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms BM3D and many state-of-the-art methods.

Improved Wavefront Reconstruction and Correction Strategy for Adaptive Optics System With a Plenoptic Sensor

Jintian Hu et al.

Summary: The study of wavefront reconstruction and correction under strong turbulence has highlighted the inadequacies of existing algorithms based on plenoptic sensors, prompting a modified approach based on the checkerboard algorithm with improved reconstruction accuracy through weighted summation. Additionally, the use of the direct-gradient method for correcting disturbed wavefronts post-reconstruction has been shown to be effective with just one correction step in experimental results.
