Impact of temporomandibular disorders on oral health-related quality of life: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Zeeshan Qamar et al.

Summary: Through a comprehensive analysis of eight studies, it was found that temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) have a significant impact on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). Therefore, the management of TMD should consider its impact on an individual's daily life and incorporate interventions to improve both the physical and psychological aspects of the condition.

Economic inequalities and temporomandibular disorders: A systematic review with meta-analysis

Giuseppe Minervini et al.

Summary: Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are a common and debilitating condition, and their exact causes remain unclear. Besides genetic, injury, and stress factors, socioeconomic status (SES) may also play a role in TMD development. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of SES in TMDs and inform the development of targeted interventions.

Correlation between Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and Posture Evaluated trough the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD): A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis

Giuseppe Minervini et al.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis of the literature and found a correlation between posture and temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Nerve pathways are likely to regulate both body posture and mandibular posture. Further clinical studies are needed to confirm this hypothesis and provide conclusive interpretations.

Effects of Low-Level Laser Therapy on Orthodontic Tooth Movement: Evaluation of Bony Changes via 3DCBCT

Mohammad Khursheed Alam

Summary: The objective of this research was to study the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on orthodontic malocclusion cases treated with fixed orthodontic appliances, using pre- and post-treatment 3DCBCT to evaluate bony changes. Patients aged 14 to 25 years were assigned to two groups, LLLT and non-LLLT. The results showed that there were mostly insignificant differences in the measured parameters between the two groups. Experimental hypothesis: there will be significant differences in interradicular width measurements between the LLLT and non-LLLT groups. Conclusion: This hypothesis was rejected, as most of the measured parameters showed insignificant differences.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on maxillary molar distalization over a 12-week period. The results showed that the amount of tooth movement on the laser-treated side was significantly greater than the contralateral and control groups, but the difference between laser treatment and the control group was not clinically significant.
